Studies have shown that on average motorcyclists are superior car drivers to the majority of the car driving population, and that is down to observation, anticipation and hazard avoidance. It's usually quite hard-learned too.

I'll drink to that. Also we have to make correct decisions much faster than car drivers due to the nature of our chosen vehicle.
I find the hazard/opportunity evaluations the average car driver makes to be excruciatingly slow and often incorrect when they finally
do something. Fortunately a few years driving a bus around Central London in my early 20's taught me monk like patience.
(On the roads at least, it doesn't extend far beyond that.)

I think the latter probably applies to most users of non-car vehicles to be honest. Large vehicles make you more aware because of their slower responses, so you have to anticipate more. Motorbikes we've talked about, cycling you are vulnerable and have to anticipate other road user actions more actively.

The bottom line is car-only road users have the easiest vehicles to operate, often the most comfortable (for this, read "cocooned") with lots of driver aids, powerful brakes, good visibility and manageable size. It means a very low level ability is needed to operate them as you can deal with hazards fairly easily, but to actually operate them competently is a different matter, which includes the hazard they represent to other road users.

Giant A pillers (esspecially) on cars younger than 25ish years means a lot of actual blind spots even right infront of you. The biggest thing I noticed after driving my Peugeot 205 for 12 years, and getting a Peugeot 308 (I didn't choose it) was the fact that there's so much shit right infront of you which potentially hides hazards unless you physically move around to look around them. Even the central mirror gets in the stupid way.

And I don't see anyone doing that anymore. Lots of people just sit back in their seats for example and don't properly creep out of junctions MAKING SURE it is clear. I don't know if that is a recent thing (relatively) but it's certainly something which pisses me off, and it doesn't help with cars having more and more crap built in to take attention away from the driver and actually driving in full control.

I'm not sure people realise actually how poor cars have got, because most people change their cars every few years and gradually adapt. But you can certainly feel/see it is very counter entuitive if you step up from a much older vehicle.

A couple of places locally have just the right curve radius you can be unaware of something for several seconds hidden behind them.

Normal filtering in my opinion and completely safe. There's plenty of space. There's not really (relatively) many bikes in the UK so some motorists can get startled or annoyed by it.

In Spain or Italy motorists wouldn't have even considered giving a warning beep. In fact, chances are they would have kept to the outside to give the bike more room and relieve traffic for everyone else.

I suspect you, peeved at the bike "jumping the queue", may have made an effort to match the bike's speed when they were passingand are being a bit generous to yourself in the account.

However, the biker is clearly a moron for reacting like that.

I am absolutely convinced OP sped up to cut the biker out. I've seen it personally so many times. OP was probably one of those cunts who gets unduly butthurt that someone went past them, then came here to rationalise their butthurt.

OP is a cunt. Biker is a cunt. I am a cunt. YOU are a cunt. Laughing

I had to double check this because a woman pulled a similar manoeuvre on me riding to work week before last.

I was overtaking cars that were going 10 in a 30 and she accelerated right up to the car infront to not let me in and squeeze me into a similar traffic calming island. Boiled my piss. Thought it was accidental until she did it again just up the road when the traffic slowed again.

I waited behind until traffic stopped and went on my way.

Some people are dicks in cars and some are dicks on bikes. Those pictures only prove the rider has anger issues

I guess it is the wrong place to get an unbiased point of view. My thoughts are that car licence holders are not told that motorcycle filtering is perfectly legal during their training. So they get a shitty on when it happens. They think the rider is a hoolagan for attempting such a move.

My advice would be to do your CBT and start riding a motorcycle, great fun but you have to spend a lot of time concentrating on which car driver is going to kill you.

Seriously get a motorbike. Very Happy

I'm really beginning to think that the OP originally wanted to go to the filth about his hurt car but was worried (quite rightly) that the filth would arserape him after seeing the whole film.

Or, the motorcyclist might have been going a set speed, faster than the car, got past ready to move in for the crossing island, and then the car driver speeds up, motorcyclist only notices at the last second?

I do feel like OP would have been back, if only to say "Thanks for your measured/dickish/motorcyclist responses" (delete as appropriate).

Wel he did actually - via an appendix to his original post; however that was before the replies became less in favourable to him; ie that just maybe he wasn't entirely blameless for Johnny Biker losing the plot...

I wouldn't let some of you fuckers drive me.
The pics span 15 seconds and run between Shaftsbury Fire station to
just passing Homemaker/Euronics on the A350 southbound.
so about 210 meters in 15 seconds which is roughly 30mph
The only time the white car in front changes relative position is in the last
frame when it's further away from the Op's car
What proof do you fucktards have to suggest he sped up?
looks more like he slowed down.

The biker is obviously in the wrong lane and used poor judgement and or skills to
put things right
Expecting anyone to move out of your way is full retard riding
they might if your lucky, but it's stupid to assume that
you either slow down and drop in behind or drop a gear or two and blast off!
Bellend, sorry bar end mirrors dont help here.

4:46:55 frame 1 Fire station
4:46:58 passing Winchcombe road
4:47:02 passing factory
4:47:03 still passing factory,approaching Lidl's entrance
4:47:03 he's appears on the cars FOS wing
4:47:04 seem to slow a bit when he see's the bollards, why?
4:47:06 still there
4:47:10 still fucking there! TWAT!!!!

This rider is a useless cunt, it's all his fault.

Dont know what bike but a 500-600 should have more than enough power to
outdrag a car doing 30mph
If it was some numpty on a 125 he needs more/better training
can you imagine a bike instructor telling you to do that?

fuckin bikers

Have a look at the second to last photo.

He's clearly a lot closer to the white car, just at the point where the bollards will become a problem for the biker.

My Tesla will out drag any 500 - 650 bike from 30mph as easily as it would out drag them from a standstill.

Not sure if you're including me in that but you'd be fine in my car - or, at least, I honestly don't think you'd ever find yourself in a situation where a biker is intentionally knocking lumps off the vehicle.
