Statistically, you're safer in their car than you are on the roads when they're driving.

Statistically, you're safer in a plane than you are on the roads when they're driving.

Have a look at the second to last photo.

He's clearly a lot closer to the white car, just at the point where the bollards will become a problem for the biker.

Could just as easily be the car in front slowing down though

The bike seems to go backward at the same time as the white slowed down. It's possible but more likely the OP sped up.

Putting them in the corect order>

There's only one person who's responsible for the motorcyclist failing to complete a safe overtake in a timely manner and that's the motorcyclist.

Rule 168 of the highway code seems appropriate at this point t.

Rule 167
DO NOT overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users. For example

approaching or at a road junction on either side of the road

He was in front well before the junction, at which point your interpretation of the rules becomes moot.

If he was in front then he should have pulled back into the lane.

Maybe the bike was going to be turning right but then changed their mind.

Was anything stopping the bike from going fast enough to complete the overtake?

I think that the OPs reluctance to post the full video tells us a lot.

certainly looks to me you have sped up to match the bikes speed, rather than just letting them merge

For that to be possible either OP is driving something pretty damn quick or the bike was going shit slow.

look at the pictures i mentioned, as i also said, the bike position relative to car hadnt changed very much at all, so they were going the same/very similar speeds

tbf i hadnt looked at the time stamps on the images

we need to see the video !

I doubt that will happen. I think the OP just posted a few images to give half a story and expecting people to say "the biker was totally wrong".

It's fairly clear from the images that the biker had passed the car, then the car caught up. Even if the bike was slowing down, the car still could have slowed down to keep the space open for the bike to move into. There's easily enough distance covered between the 2nd and 3rd images that it would have been easy for the car driver to react, keep his speed (or slow down) and keep the space in front, but they chose to stay level with the bike.

I dunno if anyone has identified the bike yet but I think it's a 2018-present Honda CB300R?
