I need to replace a bunch of 12V halogen spot lights (MR16/GU5.3 type)but since you can't get them anymore they now have LED versions.
BUT I read a review that these do not work well with the old (halogen) transformers - truth or myth?

Truth. They don't present sufficient load for the electronic transformers. If you have the really old copper transformers then you should be ok.

I'd either fit mains voltage LED lamps or replace the units with newer ones. In either case you may have to extend the wiring in which case Wago connectors and boxes are your friend.

I'd replace; old-style transformers gobble energy anyway and with 12v you're limited your range of lamps to choose from. Go with new ones and you've got far more choice and will end up with a more efficient system.

Thanks chaps

This is a stoopid 'bendy' fitting fixed to the walls of a hall way in about 4 places - it has an integral transformer feeding 5 spots no idea how old 10-20 years maybe..

.. i'll probably just end up ripping it out and fitting a pendant in that case.
