Guzzi V7 owners show us yer mods

I'm teetering on the edge of buying a V7 850 Stone, and I want to find out what the aftermarket market is like for these bikes - what are common / popular mods, what's available, what are the preferred brands... what tyres do you likes... etc

Personally, I'm moving on from a Tiger 800 XRT so I like a few creature comforts ... heated grips, some sort of screen ... hand guards?

I'm also a fan of a fruity pipe

All of those things are available, I have them on my V9. Exhausts are expensive but pretty, you'll be looking at Mistral or Agostini. Mistral shorties on mine, which are fruity but not too loud.

If it's anything like the previous V7 or V9 models, you need to spend some money on suspension. The shocks are terrible. The V9 forks are also terrible.

A remap is also a good idea, beetle maps sell a good map for about £100. It's not a sophisticated map, pretty much adds fuel in many (most?) places, which is what the engines need.

I'd heard that the suspension is a bit lacking, and on the test today it definitely didn't like the bumps ... what's the recommendations? new rears? fork internals?

On mine I have shocks from the shock factory, and YSS cartridge emulators in the forks along with some kind of more expensive spring.

It's good enough, but still not great. It's a twin shock bike with quite limited wheel travel, so there's not a lot of scope to get really good rear suspension. It does make me appreciate what can be achieved using a monoshock with a linkage.

To get the bike to how I like it has cost more than a grand. It's not a cheap bike to mess around with.
