I found my car had drained its battery because the courtesy lights had stuck on. Im still trying to trace the fault and meantime have removed the internal lights.

Is it possible to retrofit an auto cut off for the lights though?

Also anyone know where the tailgate light switch on an early model vauxhall agila is? I cant find it even though ive seen it mentioned on a Vauxhall forum, could it be part of the lock mechanism?

Cheers?

The interior light is normally a three-way switch: on, off and door switch even for old cars; more modern cars have a timer. Maybe there's a premade circuit on eBay you could fit?

there you go:wink:

one other are you share it the door or tail or boot switchs keeping it on

could it be a sticky relay

Thanks, that could be a good solution.

I cant find an existing relay i think its just straight switched. In need to go round with an Ohm meter amd see if i can find a leak.

Seemed to be worse if the weather was wet so maybe water getting in somewhere.

There is a caveat though, most internet uses American English, which is a foreign language.

OK, that's all helpful to know. I took the liberty of marking up your post for spelling and grammar.

Now, moving on.

Spelling Police are not trying to stop you from enjoying the use and or benefits of a forum.
Spelling Police attempt to help steer your spelling and grammar in a readable direction.

A bit like Police at a football match controlling the fans.

If there is no order things become chaotic.

It is much easier to read a language when the writing follows the customs of the people reading it.

Also, dots and commas are not a punishment or restriction.

They are used to help convey things such as, emotions and intentions to a reader.

But you are a free spirit, keep to your own particular set of laws that you have accumulated over time.
Or join the illuminati (spelling police and grammar Nazis) who at least make some effort to be understood.

It'll either be a push switch behind a rubber cap around the door frame or annoyingly, it's part of the door lock mech.

Start with that.

My guess after looking at interweb is that it's part of the bootlock mech on the door - doubt its on the latch fitted to the car.

Your car has auto cut off internal lights as long as you have the switch set at 'door' and not at 'on'. The switch is on the light.

I haven't left the switch on. I had the car for two years though before finding out there was a switch combined with the main lights switch, I was absent mindedly fiddling with the switch when i pulled on it and the interior light popped on. Shocked Its always been on the door option though.

Im going to take the trim off the tailgate and have a poke around with the multimeter at the lock. See what i find.

I did stick the meter onto the contacts in the front interior light fitting and got a voltage of 0.6V so some leakage there.

Thats odd, I checked a couple of owners manuals and they all said the switch was on the light, what year is yours?

Tailgate doesn't normally set of the interior light. Is there a warning lighton your dash suggesting a door is open?

Which will likely disappear when the defective switch is replaced.

Big question here is, is the bulb directly operated or operated by the canbus? have you checked for fault codes?

Its 2004. The lock is in the tailgat/rear hatch. I doubt theres a canbus, i think the switches just directly operate on the circuit.

I bought a Bluetooth battery monitor off Amazon but the damn thing wont pair with my phone. So not a happy bunny. Supposedly pairs without a PIN but clearly not playing ball. Cars FFS Rolling Eyes
