I've got heated gerbing gloves (12v) and want to be able to wear them on my old (6v) bike. Any recommendations on portable battery packs/power bank? Don't want to pay gerbing prices and not have any USB charging ability for the phone etc

Could i even just use a normal 12v bike battery in a pannier?

This will be for the Dragon Rally so needs to last more than an hour or two....

Anker seem to work well.
I use one to charge my phone.

The bigger the capacity the longer the recharge.

Don't ask me how to get 12v from the 5v output.
Unless they make a 12v unit.

The companies that market heated clothing sell power packs.
This will not be an inexpensive venture either way.

Yes, why not.

They quote 2.5 - 8 hrs on their weedy 2.6AH 'Xtreme' battery so anything you have lying about will likely better that - best not run it completely flat if you choose lead acid though - it might not recover.

A lot of internet "makers" are using the Lidl "Parkside" battery packs designed for cordless tools as power packs. They usually 3d print up a simple connector for them.

There's an example of a very simple one here (he's doing a 20v pack, but you get the idea, they do 12V ones too): https://youtu.be/0oBbF3bcDck

Another option would be to convert your bike to 12v? Most of them it's as simple as fitting a 12v reg/rec and changing out the bulbs, horn and possibly condenser. Power demand is the same and the wiring is fine because you are halving the current.

As a veteran of over 20 Dragon rallies, I strongly advise bar muffs. Even if it's just 2 big milk bottles with the back cut out and cable-tied on there. Also thick PVC waterproofs, not gore-tex.

There's the Li-Ion jump start packs, 12V + 5V USB baked into most of them.
