Hi people!
As many of you already know, I came upon a small snag with my project last night...
the evidence can be seenHere!
Yes, thats right! The top yoke is bent. I have located another one at a breakers yard, along with a front mudguard. Luckily however, the forks do not appear to be bent.
It occurred to me that I might want to add a budget of all I have spent so far to a thread so that people can see how much it is costing to get back on the road.
I have spent so far:
Bike =£1600 inc. delivery
Oil and filter £32.20
Left and right footpeg hangers (new, I couldn't find them at any breakers) £68.12 each +VAT x2 = £160.08 (inc. VAT)
Fork oil = £12.95
Brake Fluid = £4.95
Bar end plugs = £15.95
I am to spend the following at a breakers: (they only accept cheque, so I haven't spent it yet, but I have agreed the sale)
Top yoke = £50
Front mudguard (black and mint condition) = £55
plus £10 postage
And I hope to get the following from Busters in order to finalise it all.
Headlight brackets (pair) = £5.00 (I won't need them if I go for the expensive headlight I am looking at)
Mini Micro indicators (long stem, and not that horrid carbon look either... eugh! = £12.95
Alloy tapered footrests = £18.00 (hopefully I can get silver or black)
The final detail would of course be the headlight. I am still undecided as to what I should put on there... and a small cockpit fairing would be useful for attaching the clocks to. I am also however tempted by a streetfighter style headlight.
This one is only £15. This could be just a stopgap to get the bike on the road.

It is pretty ugly, but it is also 55w and cheap. But then cheap could mean crap.
Saying that, I think this would be more in keeping with the whole speed 4 thing :
https://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/resources/images/detail/BIKHLU7T.jpg but I have no idea how good it is.
Then again, I also like these ( I wouldn't get the chrome though, I would get the black. They are 55w, but they are also £59.99)
https://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/prodimages/TWIN-HEADLIGHTS-CHROME.jpg
To be honest, I think I have just talked myself into the last set of lights, and they will stay in keeping with the bike more than the others.
OK, assuming I go for the last set of lights here, I will add up the grand total.
/me bashes calculator.
OK, a grand total of:
£2022.07
The RiDE Secret Trade Price Guide 2004 lists an '02 speed four as having a private sale value of £3510!

Bad luck on the yoke mate
I dare say you were expecting to find things like that on this project.Have you considered the lights from a speed triple and/or the little clock fairing they have? ____________________ Nothing gets the point across quite like a raised middle digit.

I've decided to go for these^^^ but in black.

Ok, well the last cost for roadworthiness is going to be £29 for a set of steering head bearings.
Then, the final cost overall should be the Crash bungs at £89.
From there... no more money! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

Tis OK wave, I got the gist. I doubt that I will suddenly become good at wheelies... The TT has a reputation for having a poor midrange anyway. Eventually I don't doubt that I will downgear it and then have a go, but I expect that stoppies shall become my stunt of choice for a while! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
