80 to a tank? How the hell do you get it down to that? |
Nutter.
Did she say what her riding was like? I mean, I take it she's not using it for a gentle commute (and let's face it, only an idiot would buy an H2 for that - only one reason to buy one of these). ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Manufacturer MPG figures are nearly always a little generous. I am getting about 150 miles out of a 17 litre tank
on my 22 MT10 currently but I'm running it in, short shifting and not going past 7000rpm of a potential 12000 available.
From what I've read 8000 is where this bike really starts pulling hard and guzzling the motion lotion. I run it on super
unleaded as I have on all my bikes, not sure if that makes a difference or not. The mark two MT10 is also supposedly
more fuel efficient than the mark 1. The manufacturers average mpg figure is 36mpg on the mark 2. Six whole miles
more M's per G than the old mark 1's 30mpg average. Yamaha are crowing loudly about this improvement in range
on the new model Yet my two litre (120 bhp) petrol car gets much better MPG numbers than that lugging over
a tonne down the road. But obviously it isn't nearly as fast as a bike putting out 165bhp at the crank or as much fun.
I reckon I could probably get the range on the new bike down to 110miles from a tank using all the revs in just a
couple of hours of dickery and plain old hooliganism. I'll find out once I've had the first service done.
I can totally believe a supercharged litre bike is exceptionally thirsty though. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Sometimes to the point of using blueprinted engines and other dastardly tricks on their test models to get better results than you ever will on the example you buy from the showroom. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

My Kwak turbo used to get 50 to the gallon on long motorway trips, sat mostly at a steady 80mph. Or you could empty the tank in no time if you gassed it everywhere. Generally, it was hard to resist getting it in the sweet spot and then winding it on for that turbo rush. I've had faster bikes, but the way that power came in was just so addictive. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
