I can see a trend! I actually think the rest of the bike looks pretty good. Definitely a market for an aftermarket exhaust there. Anyway, there are some better pictures here:

it looks better in the flesh, but it's still not beautiful (the rest of the bike is tho)

Don't know how true it is but in MCN they had an interview with one of the designers and apparantly the shape of it serves a purpose, the angle, shape and weight of the can help the handling of the bike in some way. I think he said it helped lower the cog and because of the angle of shape had better ground clearence, obviously if they'd used an underseat system they wouldn't have had that problem but they probably didn't want to go the same route as everyone else. Look how much publicity it's drawn to the bike as well, any sort of publicity is a good thing.

I actually like it. Thumbs Up

And the other point is that under seat pipes mean a detrimental power hit, because of the way the pipes have to be routed.

It may not be beautiful, but at least Suzuki didn't feel they had to jump on the bandwagon and put the exhaust under the seat.

I quite like it, its abit different and far far better than them putting it under the seat like every other 1000 out there!

Its kinda arty the way its angled, or maybe I have a warped mind Laughing.

it's horrible. it needs the yoshimura exhaust to be released in '05 to make it look acceptable. i think it is a tri-oval one, so should be good! Very Happy

I like it. I know a couple of guys with a raging hatred for underseat exhausts, so it should keep them happy. I like under seat exhausts too mind. Smile

Doesn' immediately make me dislike it, not really able to see how it fits in with the rest of the bike so can't say much until see that.

Nice to see something different to all the underseat exhausts. If all the stuff Andrew quoted works well (which I'd expect they tested before making it:lol:) then it sounds like it is a good design.

I think it looks horrible. Why not just copy Yamaha on this one? The R1 looks fantastic and sounds even better with it's dual underseat exhausts. Who needs storage on a supersport, anyway?

That is just the most ugly pipe i've ever seen.
Even tho' i hate the way underseat pipes are the new fashion for bikes,i'd rather see another one than this monstrosity.

I think the can is well smart & highly original - as many have said here, Suzuki designers aren't a herd of sheep, following the underseat crowd, unlike Kwak and their new ZX-6, which is hugely ugly. Sick

I have to say, the new wasp colour scheme on the Gixxer is immensly gorgeous, and again very original in my eyes. Big up Suzook Thumbs Up
