Merry Christmas.
Happy Winter Solstice.
I wish everyone a peaceful Christmas time.

Even the Heathens who don't believe in the Baby Jesus too.

Two merry chrismas threads. Excellent. I am waiting for the sun to traverse the yard arm and then the captains finest will be broken out.

This will coincide with wifie going to visit the kids.

So who ate to much? Or drank to much Very Happy ?
Who ended face down on the pavement in thier own vomit?
Who argued with the family who they haven’t seen since the last Christmas?
Who got arrested?
Who got into a fight at this time of peace & goodwill to all? Smile

Me: had practically nothing to drink, but ate so much, my belly hurt!
There might be fireworks at the New Year’s Eve meeting of the clan, and for once I’m not to blame Thumbs Up

I did do much Dorising - cooked effortlessly all weekend.
#domesticgoddess

I made a pavlova from scratch with only three ingredients and an egg whisk, and it turned out *perfect* Cool I had to ask Alexa about the oven temperature but apart from that, I created it out of my head.

I may have indulged in too many French Coffees to get me through the ordeal but it was fabulous and light with crispy meringue and marshmallow, fruit syrup inside and passionfruit and strawberries on the top, classic Kiwi pav. Nigella, eat your heart out bitch Cool

The Senior Consort seemed quite pleased.

We went to visit his Despised Family, pre-lunch drinkies on Christmas Day.
They were as lurid as I imagined they would be. Rolling Eyes
But at least she had sausage rolls.
I was a class act: sophisticated but twinkly in a sequin-encrusted LBD and not a hint of scandal could be made from my appearance. Wink

Christmas eve at the club in my sisters village with the parents, my sister and her new bloke and no kids which meant
we weren't leaving by 8pm which is the usual when my nephew is there. Then a fairly quiet Christmas day at my mums,
with parents and sister but still minus her kids (they were at their dads this year for Christmas day) and plus my sisters
new fella again. Good because my normally childish (not in a good way) father actually kept a lid on it for once because
we had company. Boxing day was at my sisters with the kids but minus her boyfriend because the kids don't know about
him yet and also minus my dad because one day of him being semi social and unable to vent his usual amount of poison on
everyone else during Christmas day meant he was bed ridden and didn't wish to go to my sisters. Like a kid pretending to
be ill to avoid school, laying it on thick and being a martyr in general. So me and my mum went without him. Spent boxing
day with my niece and my sisters dog squabbling over who got to sit on my lap. No dad meant one fewer child present
(more like 70 year old baby) and considerably fewer raised voices and arguments than usual. It took all day for my nephew
to have a strop which happened about an hour before he was going to bed anyway and earned him an early night.

All in all, a pretty enjoyable time, two large Christmas dinners, just had an indian takeaway for dinner today and
Mcdonalds tomorrow before we go to the pictures. I'll drive back to Bristol tomorrow night while the going is good.
We still haven't had all three autists in the same room yet somehow which is why there have been so few shouting
matches this year. My dad and nephew are way worse than I am and rile each other up something rotten while I sit
in the corner trying to not be audibly overwhelmed. Fun times. Laughing

OMG, that is *exactly* how I feel about the disruptions caused by interaction with my sister: audibly overwhelmed Shocked
Once you get into a row with her (the last time I was home it was over a bus ticket Rolling Eyes ) ... she spirals into hysteria, taking anger and raised voice with her on the way.
All of us try embarrassedly to shut her up, but eventually she stomps out and fucks off.
Nightmare. Brick Wall

Oh, that reminds me: if you are looking for Eastenders-style drama, the best I can manage is that my mother's boyfriend finally pegged it on Christmas Day, which it was about time really, he was 87 with leukaemia and pretty much on palliative measures 24/7 since October. So we're all pleased he is now at peace blah blah.

My mum had already declared before he died that she won't attend the funeral, and she was quite pleased he died on Christmas Day as NZ pretty much shuts down until the second week of January while everyone is on summer hols, so the family - all of whom she didn't particularly like - won't be able to contact the lawyer (who has a few surprises up his sleeve for them) until 16 January Laughing

Basically they can't get their hands on their dad's money until my mum dies and then they'll have to deal with myself, my sister and my daughter, whichever of us are still alive. Cool Thumbs Up
