Royal Enfield Meteor? Pegs are pretty far forwards and you can get aftermarket super-fat footrests.

Wow, completely slipped my mind! Thanks. It is the bare minimum in terms of power though, like an ultra torquey 125, but just enough for work needs Thinking

There is the Super Meteor coming out soon, looks nice, but that'd be new only (probably ~£7,000.)

Pretty cheap though and I don't think you can make them to do less than 70mpg even if you try hard.

Every little helps. TBF the XSR is not terrible on fuel even with the retune. Hmm... not sure whether I just fancy a change Thinking

For certain the seat height of the XSR (for me) is an annoyance. Maybe before diving in to swapping the bike for, let's be honest, an anaemic Meteor I should squander some money on this:

https://cdn.webshopapp.com/shops/38604/files/323636615/cracer-flat-tracker-seat-low-for-yamaha-xsr700.jpg

Probably be pretty uncomfortable for a long run but there's no necessity to throw away the old seat. And swap back in for the occasional long jaunt. (Pissing about with the suspension to lower the bike doesn't sound like a sensible option.)

Jesting aside is your re-think solely down to seat height? I can't imagine how a cruiser can be better than the XSR for the type of roads and conditions we have here.

There's a 650cc version of the Meteor, it's probably going to be in the £6,000 - £7,000 region brand new. Similarly priced Royal Enfield's work out to be about roughly £130 a month on HP (£299 deposit and 60 months) so it's not going to break the bank.

EDIT: forgot to make the point the 650cc version might not be all that anaemic!

So at last we have the truth!
Its not a yearning for brutal man love and mincing about molly shops( or is it?)
but our guy just cant get comfy in his bike.

OK fair enough
Bikes are sold as one size fits all when in reality we're all different shapes and sizes so it's not
an uncommon problem at all.
I'm a lanky bastard and just cant get on with some bikes.
Lowering links are available for the SXR700 (which come in a range of attractive colours BTW)
so if I was otherwise happy with the bike
I'd consider trying them, maybe slipping the forks a bit and mebbe fitting a leaner seat too.

I know people who've done this and when they got more comfortable on the bike were more relaxed and enjoyed the riding a lot more.

People who think they need a lower seat usually actually need a narrower bike.
