One of my 'old man' hobbies is modelling. I do all different sorts of things, working steam engines, wooden boats, plastic kits etc. but at the moment I am building a model railway based on a GWR branch line in 00 scale. Exciting eh!

I want things to be right and thought of using a 3D printer to make buildings so the question is - what is a good source to read up on 3D printing, the equipment and software suitable for a computer numpty?

Any suggestions of where to start and what to look out for, good or bad would be appreciated, Thumbs Up

theres plenty on utube if your designing your own models you need to learn cad

thinkvearse is a good source for free models

have a look at the ender printers as a good starter printer you have put em togeather so its good learning curve

i got one of thease prity much does what i need but i have modded mine a lot

I am all so using a rasberry pie on it with octoprint to run to save fooking about with SD cars backwards and forwards

basicly your need 3d cad softwear and to learn it to design your own stuff say fusion

then you need a slicer to convert 3d files to g code for printer to print

i use cura its free
