I have 2 bikes, an AJS Cadwell 125, and can ride that, without the dreaded "plates", as I have done CBT, Theory, Mod1(A1) and Mod2(A1).
I also have a Honda CMX500 Rebel which is currently insured through Bikesure, but they have told me that unless I do Mod1(A2) and Mod2(A2) by this time next month they will restrict my cover to Fire and Theft. They didn't say whether or not I had to pass in that time, although I hope to as my training is going very well at the moment.
I thought, to cover myself, I would look for other quotes but have, so far, run into the "You're too bloody old mate" attitude. I thought that, in today's "Woke" society ageism would be as much an offence as racism and sexism. Guess I was wrong.
I sent the following: -
My full name is Arthur Anthony Norton, known as Tony.
I am an 85 year old widowed male, and have a full motorcycle licence, category A1. I want comprehensive insurance for a Honda CMX500 Rebel, a category A2 motorcycle. I have held a car driving licence for over 60 years and have had no claims or convictions in the last 15 years.
I have 2+ years experience of motorcycling and have attained the following: -
CBT certificate (16/09/21)
Motorcycle theory test certificate (18/11/21)
Module 1 Pass Certificate (Category A1) (23/11/22)
Practical Driving Test Pass Certificate (Category A1) (15/12/22).
I have made no insurance claims and have had no convictions related to my motorcycle riding. I feel the above facts are more relevant to an underwriter than would be those resulting from computer generated questions. If you feel you would able to offer me insurance please contact me.
to MCE, believing them to be an insurance company, Turns out they are not, they're just another broker masquerading as an insurance company!
If Bikesure do cut me off, does anybody, particularly among the older riders, have the name of somebody who could help with my predicament? BTW, don't say BIBA because they use Bikesure.
Happy biking

I've always been happy with RH Specialist insurance. You get to speak to a native English speaker too which is a bonus.
