Which will pose the question, why has it taken so long to find it?

Awful news. This sudden appearance just 1 mile from the last sighting seems suspicious after all the searches but I expect they’ll be able to tell whether she drowned and whether she’s been in the water all this time.

Peter Faulding isn't police. He is head of Specialist Group International and has spent all day back peddling (back paddling) on earlier claims that he could find anything, no matter how big or small, and that if she was in that river, he would find her.
He now reckons that had he been made aware that she had issues, he would have searched differently and anyways, the reeds etc at the edge of the river don't count as part of the river.

Not to worry, the internet detectives will no doubt have some entertaining but likely useless theories over the next 48 hours.

If she fell in she presumably drowned even if not immediately.
There are ways to confirm that.
It is mysterious that repeated state of the art detection sweeps found nothing but two dog walkers saw it without particularly looking. Rolling Eyes

So plod subbed this out to a specialist... that was less competent, and not given all the relevant info. Awesome.
I like the reeds are not the river bit. Literally a nah, not my job mate excuse, could only be improved by well yeah of course she was in the reeds, but you asked if she was in the river.
All uninformed mocking aside, I can see that she might have been snagged underwater in the reeds and then the tidal nature of the river with falling and rising water might have brought her to the surface later. Still seems bit of shitshow.

Plus with tidal sections the water flows in different directions at different times so she should have got caught there after it had been searched.

That bit of river isn't tidal.

Sonar isn't going to go through reeds, that's simply not going to happen.

The bit where she was found is tidal.

The bit he searched wasn't.

Would have been quite the plot twist if it had been someone else entirely, wouldn't it? Thinking

It would. The husband family put out a statement calling out Sky and ITV news, and people who pointed the finger at the husband.

Guy who found the body describes himself as a psychic medium. Maybe he can find Maddie as well?

I can see the police having a close hard look at his whereabouts for the last 4 weeks.

So the body had disappeared only to float up and then get stuck on some reeds.
I think I know who the suspect is.

If he gained satisfaction from finding the body, does that make him a happy medium?
