I found a ZX7R I wouldn't mind purchasing. It's advertised as a cat C

I've just done a hpi check and it says

Date 05/11/2014
Category C. Vehicle extensively damaged but repairable - the insurer decided not to repair

It has been MOT'D every year since and there slight mileage discrepancy .

That description sounds scary but it looks like it's in decent nick . Would I have any issues insuring it ? [/list]

No but I'll be honest, I had a few bikes cat c and they never felt 'perfect'

Also it should be super cheap and bear in mind if you crash/it gets written off, you'll get less.

9 May 2014 40,574 miles
Big gap...
25 September 2020 30,176 miles

The mileage discrepancy is no big deal, presume the clocks were replaced after it was written off.

It's cheap, buy on condition and it riding ok.

Dealer is a trading from home type that buys a lot of bike parts from various eBay sources. Fixer-uppers ahoy.

And it's only done 6 miles since it was put back on the road in 2020

If you can't test ride it, then walk away

Details state clock change and invite inspection. Seems kosher - half-price bike but comes with re-sale issues.

I bought my FZ as 're-framed' but only 500 quid so..

I'd be a lot happier if it had 3 MoTs and at least a thousand miles per year put on it.

Think I'm put off it now . I'll just save up a few more pennies. Second hand market seems dire at the minute

Yep, my point exactly

Doesn't instill much confidence if it was been laid up for 2-3 years having been rebuilt, and the only milage was probably to and from the MOT station
