But then they shouldn't complain when they do get arrested.

An officer will keep his job after it was found he used the Police National Computer (PNC) to find a woman on Instagram.

Derbyshire PC Jack Harrison followed a woman's car at a Co-op supermarket before checking the database on the car's registration in September 2021.

After getting the details of the vehicle's owner, he followed her on the app.

The panel chair said dismissal was "not a proportional or appropriate outcome".

The officer, who joined the force in January 2019 after being a special constable for three years, burst into tears at the outcome.

I'm surprised the Police Federation haven't raised a complaint about this. "All Cops Are Bastards" is assuming someone's gender and therefore problematic Laughing

Actually the original meaning (and not the bastardised Very Happy version) is gender neutral.

So the tl;dr is calls were assigned to a "dummy" car. Given the calibre of occupant in genuine police cars I can see why this went unchecked for so long Smile

That's a bit pessimistic relative to the rest of the world where corruption at every level is endemic.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-65139112
A South Yorkshire Police officer who pulled down a teenager's top and photographed her breasts has been jailed for eight months.

Paul Hinchcliffe, 46, sexually assaulted the 18-year-old in a pub in Wath upon Dearne in October 2020.

The victim told Leeds Crown Court the officer's behaviour had destroyed her trust in the police.

The married father-of-four resigned from the force after being convicted by a jury in January.

Hinchcliffe was off-duty and drinking with a group including other officers when he committed the offence in The Church House, a Wetherspoons pub, on 3 October.

'All trust gone'
He first took a photo of the woman and showed it to friends and made a comment about performing a sex act, the court heard.

Hinchliffe then flicked beer foam at the teenager's chest before pulling open her top, photographing her breasts in her bra, and making sex noises before sending the image to a colleague.

Later that night the woman, who lived with her parents, received WhatsApp messages from Hinchcliffe, one of which included a photo of her accompanied by several sexually explicit emojis.

They must have know each other then or how would he have got to send her messages.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-65262532

Eight serving and former Metropolitan Police officers have been found guilty of gross misconduct over offensive messages shared in a WhatsApp group.

The "discriminatory and offensive" messages included some that made fun of Katie Price's disabled son.

The officers, seven men and one woman, were found to have sent sexist, racist, homophobic and transphobic messages between May 2016 and June 2018.

They also failed to challenge other group members' conduct, a panel found.

The allegations have been under investigation since reported to the force in September 2020, officers said.

He served with Devon and Cornwall Police between 2009 and 2011.

He is due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

A former police officer and barrister has been found guilty of raping a teenager more than 30 years ago.

James Boyle abused the girl, who was under 16, between 1986 and 1991 while serving for Cambridgeshire police.

The 69-year-old, of Sunbury Street, Edinburgh, was convicted by a trial jury of two counts of rape and one count of indecent assault.

Detectives said they were told about the offences in 2018 after an "exchange of messages on social media".

I think the next move to fite crime will be to turn all the lights off in the stations at night.
People will then think no one is home and be discouraged to report crime.

Two retired Metropolitan Police officers have been jailed over a three-year plot to share child sexual abuse images.

Jack Addis and Jeremy Laxton had posted hard drives to each other and to a serving Met Police chief inspector, who has since been found dead.
