I have wanted to go for a few years but its never been doable for a few reasons. However i acted on impulse and decided to go this year for the first few days of qualifying. Too late for race week unless i pay through the nose but quali week was reasonable.

Going Saturday 27th May until Wednesday 31st. I know nothing happens on the Sunday but i was going to use that to do the tourist spots. Qualifying Monday and Tuesday then home Wednesday.

Staying in a B&B with full English every morning.

Then there is the 200miles each way to Liverpool. By far the furthest i have gone in a single bike journey.

If anyone has any tips while i am there or for packing, the journey etc everything is greatly appreciated.

Take spare gloves and a neck protector (if you have them) when you get wet the fresh dry gloves and protector provide moral support and comfort.
Get to the ferry early and orientate yourself. Ask the ticket office about boarding. They are very helpful.
They load the boat like a cattle truck. There is usually some a-whole on a pile of shite that fills the car decks with fumes.
If possible, punch that kuhnt and push his bike over.
Be ready to get off the bike and up the stairs to the cafe. There's an eff-off queue.
Not really worth paying for a quiet room. Parents are allowed in with noisy weans.
Screw the Bobbin when you ride the mountain. It's not a great road. Funnily enough.
Observe speed limits in towns. The Manx Po-Po are not out to bag bikers but be a dick and you can be banned from the island.

They speak English on IOM which helps when ordering food etc.

Not sure if it still applies but look into roaming charges.
Take a little AM/FM radio and earbuds.
Take a travel seat or a seat pad thingy.

Watch out for that rope they use on the boat ramp and talking of ropes/straps the ferry crew are good but double check your bike isn't squished to death. Fold in mirrors if possible.
The fumes...oh the fumes when everyone fires up too early waiting for the door to drop.

Try a few popular vantage spots and see if there's a shortcut to other parts of the circuit.

Oh and you have to blip the throttle lots n lots to show how you could've been a contender.

Everyone rides like a nob-end over the mountain...I'd recommend one eye in your mirrors.

Much fun...so much fun but take tissues for the sadness too.

Barregarrow is one I liked. Between the 13th and 14th milemarkers.

Bungalow is great.
I stood at the corner of Quarterbridge andnPeell Rd. in the rugby ground for some of it too.
The bikes have to slow down for the corner before battering along the straight towards the roundabout.
(Slow down, as in sub 200MPH Cool )

Scout your vantage point well before racing begins as the road will be closed to traffic about 1hr before racing begins.
You may be stuck at that point for the duration, have your sandwiches and pop with you.
Tea shop at the bungalow.
Camping stove, rolls and a packet of bacon work well.
