I'm thinking i might buy a kit like that just to satisfy my curiosity but ultimately a time/hassle assessment suggests im better just doing easy overtime shifts to fund someone else to do the donkey work. It is frustrating knowing these things are theoretically possible but to be honest it's only under perfect circumstances like a good size garage with excellent jacking equipment not either in the street or my brother's driveway.

Thanks for the responses though, it helps with my meandering decision process.

If you dig back on my travails with the wife's car's brakes the fact my father-in-law has a nice flat paved area and an industrial trolley jack made the work more manageable.
