It do recall making cross hatched marks on usually rear brake shoes
before test assembly to check where and how big a contact area is.
Perhaps a piece of chalk or a white board marker pen could be used ?

I know its bit of a faff, but short of actually wearing them in
by riding it and even that after a perfect setup, you'll get an idea
of how well or badly, the shoes are making contact with the drum.

It is also important to point out that there has been no mention of breaks in this thread about brakes.
That's always a bonus.
We need to stop people using breaks as brakes.

Thanks guys. I think I'm about there tbh.

There is no binding and the front is locking at about 40 ish % lever travel when spun by hand and a bit more when running. I can JUST about stretch the lever to the bar if pulled extremely hard but this is WAY past where it actually locks. The MOT tester did at least say this was acceptable.

Rear is pretty viscous as well now.
