Why? A country that is broke, throwing money away.

If you have children, make sure you can pay for them. I really worry for the future.

Wow. £11,412 a year.

And they have a 6:1 child to adult ratio at nurseries. Average full time nursery nurses is on £19,000.

If it wasn't for the fact that I can't stand children, I'd say I was in the wrong business.

On a side note, how many children is Boris known to have now? Are his child support payments still exceeding his known income?

Incidentally, it's not increasing as such, it's increasing the amount of childcare payments that are taken into account when looking at income.

Someone who isn't working and had children would be no better off.

I'm pretty sure that PB does have kids, just all grown up.

I'm also sure that he happily claimed all the child benefit available as well as Mrs PB accepting the NI credits whilst not working because of looking after children so that she got a full state pension, not to mention all the free prescriptions, dental care and glasses the kids got.

3 kids, all grown up. And to answer Nobby's comments yes, wifie (as far as I know) claimed what she was entitled to for the kids. Me being away so much I had nothing to do with running the household, I just supplied the money.

And Nobby, I'm not criticizing people who claim what is on offer, I'm criticising the fact it has been offered.

Youare criticising an increase in the allowance given for child care which is actually to encourage people into work because the only time they will receive that allowance is if they are paying someone else to look after their kids?

Specifically in this instance this increase is designed to encourage people to increase the number of hours they work because then the extra costs of childcare don't take up all the addition income recieved as a result.

Ah, but thats okay where conservatives are concerned, those money grabbing business owners are a necessary part of the capitalist system and should be applauded.

It feels like a pyramid scheme.

The principle of being able to offset childcare costs against earnings for benefit purposes is hardly a new thing. It was a feature of Family Credit back in the 90s so probably has been around for 30 years. If I remember correctly it was a percentage offset rather than an allowance like this.

I found out residency at a care home costs and that care homes can force the sale of a residents house to pay for their care and claim 100% of the residents pension.

If I had to capital to throw at it, I would be building a care home and a nursery and laughing as I made money from both ends of life hand over fucking fist.

It's been the case for many years. If someone has capital in the form of a house they are not using or will use again, and a pension, why should the state pay for their care?

It's not medical care as such. if it were the NHS has to pick up the tab.

Two parents, one child. 1st parent earns £100,000, 2nd works part time earning £10,000, kid palmed off to nursery @ £20,000 per year. 100,000 + 10,000 + 20,000 "added to GDP."

This isn't actually what happens but politicians are so thick they think this is what happens. "Line go up = good!" Rolling Eyes

tl;dr money going round in circles doing nothing but damaging the mental health of children.
