I'm in the process of getting my wife's uncle's ZX6R back on the road.

But in the routine servicing bit of the Haynes manual, for fork oil change it says 'refer to suspension/bodywork chapter 6 blah blah', which when you look at, unhelpfully states 'refer to chapter 1 routine servicing... Middle Finger

So assuming the seals are still ok (can't see any evidence they are not) it's basically a case of removing each leg, tipping the oil out then refilling to the specified level?

This page says add 500ml per leg if changing the oil
or 588ml per leg after rebuild

Ah, makes sense, shame the bloody Haynes doesn't have the procedure. I assume it's just the case of removing top seal and pouring the stuff out, as there isn't a drain plug anywhere.

If you've never changed fork oil before, don't be shocked at how nasty the oil looks that comes out of your forks. Dark color with micro metallic sheen is normal, and it gets that way in short order. Personally, I prefer to flush out all the old stuff as best I can. Fork oil is expensive. I've used ATF as an inexpensive flushing fluid without adverse effect. Hang the forks upside down overnight to completely drain all the fluid before filling. Use new o-rings on the fork caps, if available.

Oh god, yes it does. I'd forgotten that as it's so long since I'd done the job.
