As far as I know there has been no consistent contact with Nick by any forum members. Which is definitely par the course on forums etc etc.

Most here have never met any forum members. Members come n go. Even those I have met and were once cornerstone members are no longer active. I don't know where they are...what happened...why they chose to leave or even if they're watching me from across the road astride a C90.

Guess what I'm saying ... efforts made. The Police contacted.

Phoned again 2 weeks ago with no answer.
Same as the rest of you we hope he's okay.

If he's able or wants to then he'll post again.

Just wanted to say, the Chickenstrip mystery is just that, a mystery.

Although other BCFers do go quiet from time to time, many have a presence on Facebook, and a lot of us are active there, so those of us who are on FB know that BCFers who go quiet, are often OK and still posting crap on FB with the rest of us.

What makes Chickenstrip a mystery/enigma, is that he was so very active here on BCF, arguing, or rather, posting, many times a day. Then suddenly he goes silent. He’s also on other forums, where he’s also gone silent, but alas, he’s not on FB, so we don’t know that he’s alive & well.

It is to my eternal shame that it took (all of us) so long to notice his absence from BCF.

I do hope he’s OK. The guy has had quite the life, and in person he’s good company, with lots of good stories. Many of which involved hedges

Nick, Sid & I hope you’re alright and that you simply outgrew BCF and are stimulating (or should that be provoking?) polemic debate elsewhere on the internet.

Dare I say anything given all the people who said hello to him and had a beer with him? Yes, fuck you all. There was, literally, no concord between his political opinions and mine. Nevertheless, I always saw him as one of the good guys from the old days. When I disagreed with him I inwardly agreed with him, etc.

So if anyone wants to drop me a PM with his real name, I'll keep it under wraps and will see what I can find out.

He does have a fairly uncommon name, so I know I’m not the only one who does this but I check the Coroner Cumbria page now & then for him. Found nothing, which seems to indicate he didn’t die by accident or unexplained circumstances. Also, no death notices have been published in his name, although he hasn’t got much family so I don’t know who would do that for him.

There have been no local news stories about a “loner” found desiccated under newspapers in his home.

So that leaves me thinking that he simply decided this and other forums no longer satisfied his needs and he’s moved on. Possibly to his local WI or his local Labour Party

He may have found love! The love we never gave him.

I hope he’s ok but unless he comes back and tells us, we’ll never know.
