As per title,
Exup valve moves freely by hand but as soon as any lateral tension is applied (such as hooking up the cables) it seems to seize up?
Does it need cleaning?
I've not had it apart yet as the first bolt sheered off easily and the second rounded out. Need to get it on a pilar drill, just curious as to whether there is a known solution for the issue.

Best regards

Last exup valve I had apart for similar issues (FZR400I think it was) the bushes were severely worn. I had to turn new ones.

Probably easier just to fix it open... Eliminator boxes for the motor aren't expensive.

You lose the bottom end tractability. But it still goes like a missile.

The alternative is having it closed all the time but then you end up.with a litre bike that can only do 80.

There’s no advantage to having the valves in my experience. I’ve removed the SET valves on my zooks and the difference it’s made low down has been… fvck all. Better to remove the problem altogether when it doesn’t give any benefits.

My experience of exup valves shows they do have a noticeable difference.

Early ones (Yamaha) allow optimal breathing at both low and high revs, and I recall reading something about Yamaha’s 5-valve cylinder head influencing the invention too but I’m still looking for that source. Consequently I wouldn’t remove my ‘03 R1’s EXUP because I’d expect a worse performance.

Later bikes with ‘EXUP’ including from other manufacturers use it more as a means to control emissions at the measured 5k revs.

Pinned at the moment which help's with the high end on the track but the low end is dead.

I manage to stall it more often than I'd like thus looking to restore it's functionality :\
