Hi,

So I bought a 2017 sv650 about a year ago and now I'm having a few issues.

One day while riding the engine cut out, after a lot of fiddling around I found that the previous owner and done a bit of a bodge when they installed the stupid data tool alarm, and the wires in the loom were in a bit of a state.

I removed the datatool & patched the wiring and it was fine for a month or so (no error codes).

Then an f1 error popped up. I elected to replace the wiring loom with a second hand one form eBay as I guessed my repair didn't work too well.

But I still have exactly the same f1 errors.

I have...

c41 fuel pump control system
c62 evap purge solenoid/ control valve

I'm not fussed about the c62 right now but I would like to get to the bottom of the c41 code.

Bike starts and runs, fuel pump primes when ignition is switch on.

All fuses and relays are from the replacement loom too.

Anyone have any experience with this code?

Do I need to replace the fuel pump as well?

ECU?

Any help would be very much apricated!

According to the manual c41 is...

Voltage is applied to fuel pump even though the FP
relay is OFF

No voltage is detected, although the FP relay is ON

It then goes on to say...

Trouble area with c41:

Fuel pump relay
Fuel pump relay circuit
ECM

Can some one sanity check me here?

Fuel pump relay - No because I just changed the loom AND all the relays simultaneously.

Fuel pump relay circuit - I don't know if this incudes the gubbins inside the fuel pump, otherwise it cant be this as I replaced the entire loom.

ECM - A possibility.

So if right its still a tossup between the ECM and the fuel pump assembly?

Is there an actual relay? Have you checked if it is working properly?

So i ran through the diagnostic in section 1A-41

Everything checked out.

Then I reconnected everything and back probed T9 Y/R wire.

Switch ignition on and I get battery voltage while the pump primes.

Probed T46 Y/B wire and only got a few volts.

Problem is I don't know what voltage I'm supposed to get there.

Check all connections are clean.
Sometimes power that should go through a circuit finds an easier path through a dirty connection. And leaks to ground.

Spray everything with wd40. And try again.

Sorry for not offering any real help. My bikes are 1957 and 2010 canbus (bastirt).
Only electrical on them is battery and sometimes a plug falls out.

You have not indicated what T46 Y/B wire is connected to. Depending on the circuit, a lower voltage may be normal. In my (outdated) experience, most OBD sensor circuits operate on a 5V signal. Normal operating range varies, but typically 0.5 to 4.5V. Signal voltages less than 0.5 generate a code corresponding to signal voltage low, and voltages over 4.5V generate a code corresponding to signal voltage high. These codes can help to differentiate between open circuit, short circuit, and failed sensor conditions.

Update:

All error codes are gone thanks to the new loom, it took a while but they are now gone.

New problem:

The abs light is on and staying on.

I think I screwed up and I know why.

My bike is a 2017 sv650.
The loom I put in was from a 2019 sv650.

EVERYTHING is exactly the same with one exception.

The connector for the ABS module!

it looks like they changed the pinout for 2019 onwards so my old module doesn't even have two of the pins that the loom connector does.

I did a little research in to just swapping the abs module with a 2019+ version BUT the 2019 also has the hose ports in a different location too.

Now I'm left with little option but replace the harness AGAIN but with one from 2017-2018.

Can I find one?!

No.

I hate this bike.

Non working ABS is just an advisory on a bike. Just be a man, whip the bulb out and learn how to use brakes properly.
