Now i know i'm going to get some stick for this, but here goes

A couple of weeks back, on a spur of the moment thing, my GF offered to pay for us both to get some new piercings (she just had a bonus from work), so i decided to get an industrial scafold (right across the top of my ear, through the cartilage), something along the lines of this

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/7a/9b/e3/7a9be342451059782b4355e648681490.jpg

What i didn't think of at the time was getting my helmet on/off, as it transpires the healing time can be anything from 6-9 months, and at present i still cannot get my helmet on as it is still painful when pressure is applied

As i have only ever owned fullface helmets, there is zero flex in the opening, even taking out the cheek pads doesn't help

So, what i'm wondering is if there are any helmet designs better suited to being fitted over my bonce without applying pressure to my ear, such as flip-front helmets, do they have any flex in the opening that would allow my fit it over my tabs

Awaits a roasting in 3... 2... 1

Looks very... pretty.

I have a Shoeii Neotec, and for sure there's some flex when you put it on - in fact I always pull the opening apart slightly when doing so as it definitely makes it easier to get it on. Whether it's enough to sort your specific problem I don't know, but certainly worth visiting a shop to try some on.

Indeed so, when I was experienced in these matters (gently) pulling the sides apart always helped somewhat with helmet fitment.

Not surprised, you've already got the metal bar through you - just need to hook you up to the motor to spin you round now.

Cheers everyone, at least I now know that a flip front might be a short term answer to my (self inflicted) woes

I just need to find somewhere local that sells (relatively) cheap ones

You know that Nobby will chase after you at the next BCF BBQ. (He will say it was the drink/drugs/fumes from the bonfire/inferno in the morning. Rolling Eyes

I just bought a Schuberth to replace my Auld Schuberth.

FlipFace helmets do flex to get them on and off but not massively.

As Nobby suggested, Gaffy Tape your head like a rugby player.

Kinesiology Tape 5m Roll - Sports K Tape for Knee/Muscle Support - Adhesive Uncut Sports & Physio Tape to Improve Blood Circulation, Swelling, Pain-Relief (Pink) https://amzn.eu/d/9QvkPml

That nice pink colour will certainly give Nobby the hots 4 u.

M&P is usually a good bet.

Going to try my local CMC at the weekend, see what fits

They stock HJC & MT lids, so should be something relatively cheap in the range

I have an airoh mathisse which has a flip-over front (tested as both a full face and open face) and it's very easy to put on with the front flipped. To the extent you can leave your sunglasses on while you put it on.

Maybe needs a kite mark or something equivalent

And a couple of BS standards. (Not Bull Shit Standards.)

Hiya
Long time no post
I have a schuberth c3 and it’s magic
I need new inners for it which add up to £255 quid but a new C3 is only £299 so might do that
My old one has a fancy paint job though
Anyway , they are the best flip fronts.
I also have a piercing in my upper lug and it’s a pain in the hoop no matter what lid you’ve got
Just take solace in the fact it eventually won’t be very sore .
