True that. I was speaking to a lad (lad? he must have been over 24 to have his full A licence) who'd just got one of those BMW 800 thingies R800RS? about a week previously.

Obvious question from me was "How fast does it go?".

He didn't know. He'd had it a week mind!

It all started going downhill when they took the lead out of the petrol.

That's because the world's run by women now. The triumph of the Lunar Queen over the Sun King.

Fuck sake, I'd know that on the way home from collecting it assuming it wasn't new and I didn't have to run it in.

Close. 45.

He didn't seem like he was 24, he seemed to be about where I was in overall life stage, responsability and general gumption when I was 17/18. I mean, he must have been holding down a pretty decent job to be able to afford a new BMW but he seemed incredibly wet behind the ears.

45...a fine vintage.

Maybe he (BMW chap) had it on PCP...it's all the rage these days.

...but yeah...first thing to do with any new vehicle is to give it thrash.

May have mentioned here never owning a nice car, the current one is no exception...yet despite it being a CRV I deployed all of it's 160bhp on the drive back home.

The MV F4...well I'm still alive so didn't exploit it but enough to make my field of vision shrink to the size of a pound coin.

Well, exactly, a "Don't know, I got to 140 and some wee came out." would have been entirely understandable but a don't know because you haven't even tried...

I can almost guarantee it was. Flash cars and bikes are no longer the reserve of the wealthy. Any schmuck can afford it now, which is fine because it's how I've had cars that I otherwise couldn't have using HP.

Here's the monthly costs of some BMW bikes with a £1,000 deposit on a 48 month PCP:

BMW F 850 GS = £126.93 pcm,
BMW R 1250 GS = £181.98 pcm,
BMW S 1000 XR = £206.99 pcm,
BMW R 1250 GS Adventure TE = £282.51 pcm.

I could PCP three S 1000 XR's for the same cost each month as my Tesla.
