what bikes are best for short riders?

Hi,

I'm new!

So i'm going to go for a practise session and cbt, or I was but unfortunately the place I'm going to doesn't have a bike small enough for them to be comfortable testing me on since i am 4'8" (143cm). I know, very short.

I knew it may be an issue when learning, i don't expect most motorbike training centers to have bikes for the one short person who comes in like once in a blue moon, especially someone my height.

The instructor recommended i buy a cheap bike thats small enough for me to do the test at least. He recommended a honda grom. Are there any others that would allow me to touch the floor? Just want to keep my options open to what I can get so i can go through my initial test and practise.

Any other advise for my situation is welcome!

The retro version of the Grom is the Monkey bike if yours is a more quirky style but if you want a more "normal" bike then consider a cruiser e.g. Keeyway Superlight, K-Light or V-Cruise, Lexmoto Michigan or Detroit.

You can use that to see how much you would fit on different bikes.

You're taller than Nobby and he manages well enough.

I have a mate who just took the seat off and gaffa taped a bit of camping mat to the frame rails of her Ducati monster. Not sure how tall she is, I'd guess 4'9" ish.

If all else fails there's the YSR80 although they are like rocking horse poo.

Umm. Sachs Madass? Mainly because it's super narrow and semi-stepthrough.

There are a few road legal pit bikes out there.

Go sit on as many bikes as you can, some seats are low but wide, others seem high but are narrow and give you better reach.

Try the suzuki van van. They're quite small and light and a few schools still use them for cbt.
