Sum Dum Fuks of N. Korea fired an ICBM 6000km into space and it landed 150miles from Japan.

The chinese tolerate and to an extent guarentee the safety of the norks becuase they do a good job at winding up the US and make a land buffer with the western world.

If, however, the norks were to sling a nuke at anyone I really can't see the Chinese doing anything other than sitting back and watching their complete annihilation by the yanks.

I'm not convinced the Chinese would sit back and do nothing if there were a bunch of nukes heading in towards their southern border. I would bet that if NK did something stupid like the Chinese would be in there and in charge in a flash. The Yanks would be told to butt out.

That is a strong possibility. Either way the Norks leaders will be toast.

If it gets that out of hand I'd expect The Great Leader to suddenly fall ill and a trusted advisor* would step in and help out till he gets better.

I'd imagine it's much the same as Putin: as long as the people under him are doing okay he'll be protected from the rabble. Keep a hundred people with guns happy and you can fend off a sizeable pitchfork-wielding mob, e.g. Battle of Rorke's Drift.
