Apologies if this is the wrong thread!

Found one on eBay, see below.

What is the typical NOx reading of the Kawasaki KLR 600 1985?

Will it be costly to make it ULEZ compliant?

Any advice on finding a rear luggage rack for it? Not having so much luck on eBay.

Looking for a bike for touring with my partner (she wants me to have a bike and not a car kind of girl), not especially long stints, day trips to the sea, camping weekends and 10 days in europe once a year and a bit of general commuting in between. Maybe we will do a longer trip one day but I dont have too much money atm so this bike might have to be a stepping stone.

I love Kawasaki, especially the green and purple stuff from the 90s / 00s but I am open to other suggestions.

Would a late 90s Zx6r be mad for 2 up touring? They sometimes go quite cheep (within my budget)

Im cant spend more than £1500 including making it ulez compliant.

Thanks in advance

anyway, good news and bad news.

bad news: nox values werent even thought about nor published by any of the jap manufacturers till pretty much this century.

it'll cost around 350 squids to get it tested+welding in a cat if needed...the richer you run it, the better. it may even pass on first go if its rich enough...2stokes pass while lauging their way into the powerband in a puff of blue smoke...coz...the richer, the lower the combustion temperature...the less nox...plus the oil actually helps in that regard

good news: it becomes a historic vehicle in 2 years time and can then be registered as such, making it MOT, tax AND ulez exempt

April 2026 will be when it can be registered as so unless there is proven documentation it was manufactured in 1984, or was registered before the 8th of Jan 1985.
