Hello,
messing with the valve lash on said lifan and with both at 0.06 mm on both, the bike farting, backfiring and not a happy bunny.
No worries I thought. just go online and I should be able to find that.
but after numerous utube vids of people saying "um" alot and reading differant threads with links to non discript crap.am more confused and angry than before.
So any of you out there can recomend the correct settings in mm I would really apreciate it. No doubt a few others would do too.
other then that,I am curious to know what size main jet people are using, when I got the engine it came with pod filer k and n style and some sort of slip on silencer. typical dirt bike stuff. I got a mikuni carb for it and with a 110 main jet the bike runs nice when warmed up. tho I still reckon its on the lean side, plug light tan in colour. not white. but engine feels to hot.If I go any bigger on the main jet,the bike bogs out and runs like crap.. and idle speed goes way high. altitude wise I am round the 103 metre level.
Many thanks for any help.!

0.06mm or 2.3 thou is too tight IMO

Having worked on similar machines
I'd expect something in the region of
Inlet
0.1mm (4 thou)
Exhaust
0.15 mm (6 thou)

OR
IN 0.15mm
EX 0.2mm

You're wise to stick to metric as it was built using metric standards
and there is often confusion around Metric to Imperial conversion
even NASA got it wrong at times

well thankyou.
have gone with your settings. bike engine sounds just the same as it did before. bit ticky but not to wtf standard. deffo running better. no stutter at top end. tho I think I will richen it up a bit as exhaust doing that blue thingy. Hopefully I can sort that with just the needle height and the mix screw located towards the front of the carb.
I thought at first I had it all wrong as after re setting tappets bike still didnt want to start then did. then wouldnt idle or rev. was ready to rip the whole lot to bits. but alas when I took the valve cover off, I must of knocked the connection onto the ignition coil. thankfully I spotted it before the bike got torn to bits.
anyways cheers. got a good blast out at the end of the day.
