Planning to do an oil change, can see I can grab this stuff from local Halfords:

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/motorcycling/oils/castrol-power-1-4t-10w%2F40-motorcycle-engine-oil---4ltr-966119.html

Would it be suitable for my FZ1? Anyone used this stuff in their bike?

Been using it since at least 2000. It has changed name in that time I seem to recall.

I offered Castrol the opportunity to strip my 2000 Honda XRV750 engine that had run on nothing else at 130,000 miles, to look at wear etc. I believe Honda owned Castrol at the time as well.

There were a few interested emails from their publicity department, they seemed keen and were asking about pictures of it in the desert to be supplied, then I realised they had no intention of putting it back together again afterwards which was what I was aiming for, a refreshed engine.

What a load of marketing pish.

It will compliment any blue powerbands you have retro installed too. Laughing

I've used castrol Power Racing 5w40 in both bikes since new. It will be better than your stuff coz the Marketing Pish is heavier. Laughing

Castrol is fine.

1. That oil is just about perfect for the application.

2. Honda never owned Castrol.

People like to say “Halfrauds” (bad pun) but I reckon the vast majority of their stuff is quality these days. I use that oil in my two sportsbikes.

I agree. My issue with them is the wallys that serve in their shops, not the products they sell.
