Let's just get it over with: Fortnine videos are production value > all. This latest video though leaves out so much that I'd almost say it's worthless Sad

For my money, if time is not a constraint, with ultra-technical terrain you can't beat a MTB because the simple answer to a seemingly unsolvable question is to pick the fucker up (a solution not available to either the Sure, Ron, I believe you or any ICE bike.)

You bring the right tool for the job and a DRZ400 is way too much for quite a few jobs where a simple 125 or even a 50 would be sufficient. Is the electric bike worth considering? Of course! But it's no magic wand.

His videos have fallen off a bit. I watched it. I would have liked to have learned something rather than be shilled something or get some subjective impression, but that didn't happen. 99% of the time, I think riders would get more out of a MTB on those trails. I know I've said some negative things about cyclists, but this is plain and simple fact. An MTB would be more fun and give you as much challenge as you want. F9 is actually a pretty good offroad rider anyway, but he brought someone along with him to test both the electric and ICE bike, suggesting torque from way down low is good only up to a certain point, after which it's just stress. Paris-Dakar was done on great fun, torquey but low-power singles in the 80s. If you want a shortcut to a broken neck, even an MTB can provide that. However, the low-commitment nature of an electric bike on trails only provides the risk element of motorcycling. The enjoyment of riding petrol motorbikes is not only risk - it's soul as well. Without the soul, it's pointless. It would be just remaking Jackass. The mountain bike is a better toy for the trails he demonstrated in that video. Just my opinion.

I was about to say I prefer Fortnine videos when they just pick one topic to explore but given the last video about flat out max rpm contained an unbelievable amount of bollox I tend to agree with you.

Again hyperbole "finding neutral is a PITA on all of them" just... nope! Some bikes are easy* and some bikes are terrible for it.

*Oi, O! Saveloy!

For the terrain and tests they did there, they weren't comparing eggs with eggs. I'd have liked to see the sur-ron up against an lightweight, non road legal offroad motorcycle. As in a proper modern trials bike. They'd have blasted up that hill in second gear on a squidy 4" tyre, lifted into the back of the pickup (or with a well placed rock or log, ridden it in, I've seen it done) and wafted round the MTB trail until you were bored of it. The only test it would have lost would be the drag race. As for the horseing about test, you could bunny hop it in a 180 on the rear wheel

$8,000US would get you a Beta evo 300.

68kg dry, around 30bhp at the rear wheel.

The ultra bee is 15kg heavier, wider, half as powerful, smaller tyres and in comparison has absolute poverty spec suspension.

I tend to like F9's vids but there have been occaisons where I'd quibble like a mofo on some of his assertions if we'de been discussing it
in a pub and feel he's gone a bit style over substance at times.

To be fair I can do this with most youtubers and currently he's not in
danger of going on my "You're so full of shit" list

Twice today I was moving the 401 about "oh, it's in gear" and twice I found neutral no problem at all Rolling Eyes (with regards to the Kawasaki short)
