Hi there,

I recently bought a 1994 Cagiva Mito and the bike has been de-restricted. As I will ride this on a Cbt I want to restrict it again. Is this possible. I dont have contact with the person who de-restricted it cos it was several owners down the line. Is it as simple as doing something with the engine or do I have to buy parts for it?

Many thanks in advance

Hi

Think they were quite simply restricted at that time, with a washer lightly tack welded in the front of the exhaust pipe.

Might be worth asking Rob at Mito Mondo as he might well know in more detail.

All the best

Keith

yeah I sent rob an e-mail about 5 days ago and I got no reply. Does anyone else out there have a clue how to restrict a mito?
Also Kickstart if you could explain in a bit more detail of how to do this I would be very grateful.

Various models of mitos have been (primarily) restricted in different ways. Its normally the exhaust, either with a cone inside the header or extra pipe on the expansion chamber.

My cone from the header was destroyed when i removed it, so i doubt you will manage to find one that is fit for putting back in. The extra pipe on the exhaust pipe will also be hard to replace as you would have to remove the plate from the expansion chamber and find a pipe to put back on.

A way to bodge it could be to disconnect the power valve, but i wouldn't be keen on this as the PV would gunk up rather quickly.

Hi

The early Mito was litterally restricted with an appropriate size washer at the very front of the exhaust. This washer was just tack welded in place (and came out in seconds once you had the exhaust off the bike). I don't know how big the washer was, or when they moved to more perminant restriction methods though.

All the best

Keith
