Hello all! This is my first post on here and probably won’t be the last. I’ll cut to the point.

Im rebuilding a 1994 Honda CG 125cc with kick start. Im fairly competent with the mechanics of the thing and I’ve got it running and will be changing its blown head gasket very soon.

Im now onto the dreaded wiring. Something I am completely unfamiliar with. It has the wiring already in it that allows it to start (ignition coil circuit. But nothing for the lights or to power the tack. This is what I’m trying to wrap my head around and any help woudl be greatly appreciated! I think what I need for the thing is a working loom that it doesn’t seem to have. Anyone know where I could source one ? Alternatively I could wire everything in myself without a look but I fear that will be a pain in the neck to put it lightly.

Any suggestions on what I should do from here as I’m rather stuck :/ I’ve got the wires that come from the left side of the gearbox and I’ve hooked up the Neutral switch. It has the ignition coil, ignition barrel and regulator wired in. It does start and make spark from this but it won’t be passing any MOTs without lights or a horn.

I’ll add pictures as soon as I can cheers to all for stopping by !!!

I do have part Number 5. It’s the actual main loom in that diagram I’m missing and it was a Cafe racer project that I bought to make into a scrambler type bike.

Please see images attached to this post to see the rats nest I’m dealing with:

Thank you again!!

I'll bite.

By the sound of it you have a somewhat home made loom on there with enough to make it run and (presumably) charge. What you don't have is any lighting whatsoever.

So you can either get a complete loom on ebay, or from a breaker, and put it all back to how it should be. Alternatively, you could make a lighting loom from scratch. It isn't complex and you can follow the wiring diagram. The only bit that would put me off is the AC lighting for the headlight, but if you're going from scratch you could run it all DC.

The picture is a bit grainy. I can't tell if the current setup is any good. If it's shit, get a full loom and go back to standard.

Making a complete loom from scratch is surprisingly expensive. Wire is not cheap.

Pic of the back of the frame is needed so that we can tell if its a write-off or not.

If you're unfamiliar with wiring then I would not even entertain trying to repair that mess.

CG125 looms are plentiful and cheap on eBay - that would be my next move.

Update:

After a lot of research and debate I’ve gone ahead and purchased a loom from a 1986 model. Sourcing a 1994 look has proven to be more difficult than I thought it would be. I’m fairly confident this will be my solution going forward… expect updates.

Following that. When installing this new loom should I use it to wire the lights in as well replace the what I’m going to refer as the spark circuit that is already in the bike ?

Please find a better pic attached of what this is looking like

Again thanks to all for any help!

If it's just for use as a scrambler and not a road bike, there is an exemption in the MOT for bikes which are designed to carry only the rider and are modified for off road use.

Put simply, if you have a single seat, no passenger footpegs and knobbly tyres, you don't need any lights at all for the MOT. Any lights would need to be removed or taped up.
