Hi all,

New to the forum and new to bike building. Picked up a half done kick start SR500 chopper conversion recently and have an ignition question.

Just installing a fuse box and it comes with 3 wires; positive, negative and positive ignition. My question is, when putting a tester on my current ignition, it's showing as 2 negatives (1 in the on and 1 in off position). Obviously on connecting the ignition wire to this (before checking!), it blew the fuse. Is 2 negatives correct? And if so, where would I connect the ignition positive? Obviously if I touch it to the positive on the battery everything works fine.

So hard to find anywhere where you can ask a quick question so hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction

Thanks in advance.

I would imagine (if it doesn't earth through its body) oneof the positives is for the lighting etc. and one is for the sparks with a common earth.

Unaware of any need or purpose for a switched negative on a negative ground electrical system. Are you sure that you did not mistakenly invert the meter leads when you took your measurement?

None of this makes any sense to me.
why would a fuse box have a ground wire?
what function would that serve?
a fuse box isbasically, a pass through device
Power in and distributed power out, thassit.
No grounds needed.

The whole description is highly suspect (bollox) to me

...half baked kick start SR500 chopper pretty much sums up all you need to know.

Surely the fuse should be between the battery and the rest of the wiring, as near to the battery as you can get it.
