Yamaha Aerox 50 LC 2013
A neighbour got this for his son as runabout
I sorted a brake problem on it a while back and it went through the MOT OK.
But
Its not running right he says.
Smokey, black sooty plug, air filter wet with fuel
and just dropped of the carb for me to look at

It's a Minarelli Gurtner PY carb
Heres the overview pic with the main jet and main nozzle removed and lined up

Here's the nozzle dropped in with the carb held upside down
and the nozzle protruding a bit which looks pretty normal to me.

Now heres the bit puzzling me.
With the main jet fitted and the carb held upright
the nozzle drops down into the body !!
( yeah I see the tick over screw is rammed home, will back it off later)

I measured it all up and there's about a 3mm gap between the inner main jet and nozzle

All the fiches I've looked at showed no other parts in there so nothing appears to be missing

Surely that nozzle isn't supposed float about?
I would expect it to be a press or interference fit
or at least have an O ring or summat but an O ring might
drop the nozzle lower and interfere with the mixture

I'm tempted to mix up a wee drop of petrol proof epoxy and
carefully glue the fecker in but in case I've missed something

Opinions?

The tube definitely shouldn't rattle about like that. Looking at some parts diagrams (and loads of people make knock-offs of this carb) it's not showing any O-ring Thinking

Maybe get a new carb, as they're so cheap.

The interference fit has been interfered with I assume. I would go down the epoxy route to start with. If it fails, fix it better.

My first thought, before I read the thread, was 2 stroke with knackered reed valves. So if it is a 2 stroke I would check them while you have it apart.

I suppose if it is a 2 stroke and it's that much fuel sloshing around everywhere, the engine is on borrowed time anyway.

To close the story
I JB welded the wee fecker in and today it finally got reassembled with a new reed box, a good battery and its now running fine.
