I (ab)use a VPN to purchase YT Premium from India, £11 a year, it looks to run out in 9 months so wonder if they'll change that soon. Thats the easy fix for device wide working.

But I also use AdBlock on Windows because I hate ads, and zero ads have appeared in YT on my work machine with no premium login as I cannot use personal gmail accounts on here.

Free initially, I got a years free surfshark but I now hop through 'influencer' discounts to get 60% off a 2 year subscription, I use a VPN on my router to get us netflix and stuff but my pc hops around to India and whatever to get deals for games etc.

Probably works out to £30 a year tops

YouTube on android mobile - revanced
YT on desktop - Firefox with sponsorblock and ublock origin
Spotify on android mobile without ads - xmanager (there's something similar for desktop)

They all get enough data about my viewing / listening habits already, fuck getting ads rammed down my throat.

Does anyone else find their cursor takes an unusually long time to show back up on the screen just as an ad gets to the point where it's skippable?

If you are viewing longer content on youtube, there's a command line program called youtubedl which will download the complete video as a file so you can play it on a proper media player. It's got a LOT of features and workarounds, including spoofing your location.

cheers guys - ublock origin for firefox is pretty good; there's a slight load lag but not much, and the filters seem to work for days, and if updates are needed, they appear to be quick and easy

Install sponsorblock too. It's community fed by auties and will autoskip the sponsor segments.
