Hmm
Pump not running measn the boiler won't fire - it it did it would boil which is bad.
You're righ to focus on geting the pump running. You say the boiler is new but what about the pump?
YOu can wire it up to a plug an connect via an extension lead to check. If it runs then theres an issue with the controls or maybe thethree way valve.
If the isolation valves on the pump aren't seized it should be a straightforward fix. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

With a normal boiler, I'd be wondering about the thermostat(s) in the first instance. A duff thermostat could give you a temperature differential error. There's usually one upstream and one downstream. Should be simple resistance check of the 'stat although finding what it's supposed to be could be a bit of a fight. Assuming they are both the same though and that the thing is an even temperature because it's off, the two should give the same reading.
Thermostats are cheap.
Last time I had an issue on a boiler it was actually an inlet flow switch so the pump was coming on but the flow switch wasn't telling the boiler the pump was on so it wouldn't fire. Just a microswitch on a paddle that screws into the pipe so really easy to test them.
You should be able to test the pump itself by jumping a couple of terminals.
Airlocks on pumps happen too, they generally have a (seized) bleed screw on the top. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

F83 seems to be a catch-all code for a number of issues depending also on the boiler typre. Steve Reid says..

I've had trouble with the microswitches inside the motorised valves in the past The SOE is something like..
With Timer On plus Theromostat On controller gives signal to motorised valve that opens to either CH or HW or CH/HW - once the valve is open the microswitch enables a live feed to the pump, with the pump running the boiler will start and Robert is your Dad's brother.
if the microswitch is sticky pump no starty. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

The pump is whirring away on III quite as happy as a pump can be.
2-way valve 2-waying too.
But...
It's a maintenance thing, If it can fail it will and better late than never.
I saw the wilo pumps.
1/2 price but will it last as long as my trusty Grundfos?
The one fitted has been superseded to a different pump. So Ill have to read all about the pump curves for that as compared to the curves for the existing pump.
The agony of nae heat in the hovel when it's -2°C outside will kill me.
I don't do any of that boiler/heating inspection pish. I treat the system with Fernox and that has saved me more than the cost to treat. Drained and refilled every four years, I have two magnetic filters in the system now. I already fitted the fernox filter.
The cnuts who installed the new boiler insisted I that they fit theirs. Much more of an arsehole to service than the Fernox filter.
The system has Fernox F9 Protector and Filter Fluid in it too. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |
