So you don't know. Given Romania fought side-by-side with the Germans in WWII I'd have thought it would have been an easy task for you. How disappointing.

And it's a poor attempt at trolling to quote wikipedia on anything even slightly political Rolling Eyes

In other words, you called it completely wrong so picked a side argument to deflect attention from that. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Called what wrong? The poll result vs. reality, calling Nobby an anti-patriot or pointing out Val's ignorance?

A senior politician was mobbed in the street. Jewish families leaving synagogue were targeted by demonstrators. Hamas sympathisers shot fireworks at the police. An Iranian man protesting Hamas's 7/10 atrocities, holding a placard equating Hamas with ISIS, is set upon by demonstrators. On Armistice day, no less.
It's the usual coalition of communists, moronic activist students, foaming "liberal" antisemites, Islamists, Holocaust and 7/10 deniers ,trade unions This was no small outing either.

None of that's on BBC News or the Guardian website so effectively it didn't happen.

The soppy Met Police reported “extraordinary levels of violence” although the videos only show jostling, shouting, some silly posturing by Tommy Robinson’s simpletons (he must have gone home early) and a few empty (of course!) beer cans and plastic bottles being lobbed about.

Quote:
Seven charged with offences.

Those who were arrested only to prevent a breach of the peace and not for any other offence have now been released, police said.

Arresting people for this reason "is a power officers have available to them where there is an imminent threat of harm", the force said.

Thought-crime?

Quote:
Around 150 pro-Palestine protestors were intercepted by officers after breaking away from the march through London. It is understood that not all of these protesters were arrested.

Nor even detained, despite reportedly firing fireworks “into officers’ faces” and repeating a chant now commonly known to be a call for genocide.

https://news.sky.com/story/seven-charged-with-offences-following-saturdays-london-demonstrations-as-police-confirm-15-officers-injured-13006525

Incidentally, the photo captioned, “Met Police officers before the protests at the US embassy in Vauxhall. Pic: Met Police” appears to show Welsh coppers (Heddlu). Bussed-in, or wrong photo?

If you can bring some degree of impartiality to all this then surely you’ve got to question how the emotive language fits the facts, and whether The Met are politically impartial.

Well done for finding that. I had a cursory glance and didn't see it. I didn't resort to a search though. Did you initially read the story on the Guardian website or elsewhere?

The way this government is going it must be the most left leaning bunch of tory fuckwits I have ever seen in my 68 years on this planet.

Take what's going to be incoming with Queer Starmer I think that the most visible difference between the two parties is Labour has better looking women.

Ah well, I've voted for more tenuous reasons than who has the nicest tits.

For expressing views which people who didn’t win the election would disagree with. What a waste. Sunak is either an idiot, a coward or a closet Guardianista.

I'm always amazed at people who have lived I think uk for the vast majority of their lives but still don't understand that our democracy doesn't elect a pm but mps and the mps and the majority party chose the pm.

Agreed.

Quote:

I was referring to the GE electorate and media who didn’t support the Conservatives but have still been able to steer the government thanks to its lack of balls. When Corbyn said he had lost the election but won the argument we all laughed. Turns out all he had to do was convince a willing media. They’ve been able to instruct the government at almost every step since. I didn’t even vote Tory (never have) and I’m still upset. This isn’t democracy.

The opposition (whichever party that is at the time) regularly throws down in PMQs with "You weren't elected [to the position of PM] why don't you call a General Election and gain the legitimacy you so desperately need!" (cue whoops from the opposition benches, boos & nays from the government side.)

Are you saying politicians don't understand democracy? Laughing

To be clear the three types of PM people are generally referring to:

1) PM elected by the people as in they were the party leader entering into General Election.
2) PM elected by the party mid way through the election cycle.
3) PM who didn't even need the party vote as they were anointed by powerful forces outside the party.

It's amazing how quickly labour forget how Gordon Brown became PM.

Also interestingly. I don't think there is anything to say the PM has to even be an elected MP.

And technically, the PM is anyone who the king has asked to form a government.
