Hoping someone can help. Recent bad weather and on way to work and reached a deep puddle/flooded bit. Had a good shallower line, tractor sped through and washed me out. Bike ran a little more then stopped. Have done oil change (it looked bad), air filter was wet so took it all out and dried it. Now the bike starts, idles for a few seconds and dies, if I touch the throttle at all during this it dies instantly. I haven’t delved deep enough to discover how to drain the fuel tank yet as I believe they tank seals aren’t brilliant. Anyone know where the fuel lines are to save me taking the tank of to search. And any other idea what may be causing it before my local repair shop robs me for hours of “investigative work”?
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

What year? The old ones are carb so maybe some water in the float bowl. That being said, it's a Chinese bike so I doubt something of that age would be extant. Fuel injection? Maybe water in the tank...

Probably worth biting the bullet and pulling the tank off anyway. Most of the electrical connections are under there and notably unsealed. The other place to look would be under the magneto cover.

If you need any OEM parts they're all here:

It’s a 2022 fuel injected, that’s the one bit I did get stumped. I can do a float carb system in my sleep, never dealt with fuel injected. Tried to see if I could locate the fuel lines to empty some and check the contents but without taking the seat and tank off I seen nothing. Reluctant to deal with recovery to get it to the shop and then the bill (nearest shop is in the next town) going to have a look over the weekend and see if I can dig a bit deeper. Was just checking if any of y’all brainiacs had any good ideas to try

Just a few thoughts.

Have you checked the spark plug? Might be water in there - possible hydrolocking.

Some air filters being directional can be put in the wrong way around.

Did the force of the water dislodge a connection like an oxygen sensor?

Is there water in the tank vent/breather?

Could just take a while to dry out properly.

Checked the spark plug, was a little carbon build up on it but it was dry, gave it a little clean and put it back in. I’m relatively new to the bike so I haven’t discovered the breather or anything yet, not had the tank off. Took photos of air filter before removing and double checked on a YouTube video before reassembling to make sure it all went together properly again. Plan to empty the tank and refill with some fuel cleaner and see if it’s maybe something partially blocking the injector. Will strip it down a bit at the weekend and see how it goes. Cheers for the tips on things to try, the more things I can try the better, hopefully something works. Will also add, when it starts it sounds fine, no clunks or rattles or anything, it just then sounds like it bogs down and dies

I only know the carb and Euro 3 versions of this bike but I suspect the 2022 model would be Euro 5?

If you can get it to consistently start, splutter and die it might point to lack of fuel pressure. I'm thinking there's enough fuel in the pipes for the initial turnover of the engine but the fuel pump's doing nowt after that to maintain idle and certainly not enough to give it some revs Thinking

Good point. You should probably find a red Euro 5 diagnostic connector under the left hand panel.

It sounds like water in the fuel tank. You need to find the fuel line and disconnect it, to drain water out of the bottom of the tank. Fuel system cleaner will do nothing.

You could try removing the fuel via the filler hole using a cheap syphon pump, but if you do it that way you'll need to get all the fuel out. Water sits at the bottom.
