Bought the bike second hand from my dad knowing it's sat for about a year and I've rid it 3 weeks and it just cut any throttle you give it when it's warm and won't idle at all have to keep it 1/4 of throttle to keep it alive

We need a bit more information but I'll take a preliminary guess...

Is it carb or fuel injection? I'm guessing carb?

If it's carb and it's been standing then the jets have probably got gummed up (Worse these days due to ethanol in the fuel). Need to take the carb off, take it apart, unscrew all the jets, clean and blow through everything until it's all immaculate.

Make sure the airbox and filter looks clear and clean while you're at it.

Before you do that though, is the choke getting stuck on? Is the cable for the choke bust? Is it half on and half off?

Speaking of "choke", fuel injection has a form of "choke" often called a fast idle. There's a thingymagig and a sensor that takes care of it that and might need looking at.

If it's fuel injection. It could be a sensor issue somewhere, most likely the engine temperature sensor that's got bust or corroded and might need replacing.
