I think we're all familiar with the classic world map of the 1920s:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b8/British_Empire_1921.png

Most of these countries had the opportunity to gain their independence as the 20th Century wore on with a few notable exceptions. For example, the Falkland Islands and Gibraltar both voted "nope, we like things as they are, thanks very much!" Bully for them, at least they were asked...

Of course you can see where I'm going with this. The most significant countries never given the chance to leave the Empire: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

More and more people are asking: "Why do the politicians never do what we want? I don't feel represented!" Of course not. Westminster is still running an Empire (albeit with a heavily reduced membership) and therefore they represent British interests not those of their colonial slaves subjects.

Rise up my English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish brothers and sisters! Throw off the yolk of British Empire oppression!

Tony Blair gave three of the four countries (regions?) in the UK their own devolved governments and the people still don’t feel represented, - because politicians are all alike. In fact the devolved governments make Westminster look like the grown-up. Holyrood is a cesspit of incompetence, perversion and corruption turning Scotland into a fried banana republic. Stormont is still a sectarian nightmare such that they can hardly bring themselves to sit together. Cardiff is the nanny-state where nanny is a bit thick.

I’d like the UK (even) more if the pointless and expensive devolved governments were canned and it all came back to Westminster. Or relocate Parliament, it doesn’t matter where it sits.

I’d also be in favour of the UK forgetting its former imperial status and supposed ongoing responsibilities/reparations and focussing on ourselves. Why are we funding India’s space exploration when our roads are crumbling? Let the Middle East deal with its own Middle Ages problems, stop chucking a handful of RAF planes into the USA’s ‘World Police’ activities which make us a target, cut routine foreign aid (which really just seems to be bribes to business and politicians to sweeten current and future deals) except in times of humanitarian crisis, not including wars.

This is my point: we don't have a say in how the British run their empire. And I'd argue Humza Yousaf is a British First Minister lording it over Scotland. The Lefties are always whining "The British Empire was terrible!" sorry, it still is terrible, we should do away with it. Kick the British out like they did in Kenya, Zimbabwe, etc.

It does explain why the obsession with diversity, it always worked well in the past. For example, shipping Indian workers over to African countries to give them a leg up. Diversity definitely was a strength when trying to drag people into the industrial age. But it only works if the people you import are more skilled than the current population Rolling Eyes

What if we don't want freedom?

Our regional Freedumb party are making a Sterling Job of independence from our Empire.

Christ/Allah only knows what the non-secular separists of Caledonia have in store for our future.

It looks morbid.
