Hi,

I have had my A2 licence for nearly 2 years (this may coming up) and im looking to do my full license this summer. However, I have just got my license back after it being revoked for attaining 6 points in my first 2 years (probationary period).

I was wondering if this probationary period resets and disables me from getting my full license for another 2 years.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

A driving licence is a singular thing but you can have many entitlements. If your licence is revoked you'll need to take a retest for something to get it back. For example, you could apply for a provisional, take a car test and get your full licence back along with your previous A2 entitlement (with it's accumulated experience.) Yes, your licence has been revoked; your entitlements are not "deleted" but unavailable to you till you get your driving licence back.

If you're younger than 24 I would suggest your options are to retake the A2 test, do the car one or wait till 24 and just go for the full A.

<edit> You say you have it back. Did you do a retest or do you just mean you have a provisional?

Hi,

Yes I have re-done my A2 test and have had it back for a few months now. But i wonder if the 2 year probationary period had reset again as if i had just past my test again for the first time

thanks

Do a DVLA license check online and see what it states as the start point for your A2 license, also what does it say on the rear of your photocard? That is the important detail.
If you reach 24 first it won't matter anyway however.
But really the intention is that you have to hold the license for 2 years first before you can upgrade, if it was revoked you haven't really held it for 2 straight years (because you lost it.)

You have a very specific issue and one that needs clarity so you don't waste time booking tests you can't do.
You'd probably be best off phoning the dvla (book a day off)and getting confirmation from them on paper.
Local motorcycle test centre examiner may be able to help, and they may be able to get an answer quicker than others.

This is the correct answer.

License revoked = clock resets.

It only applies to the A2 code, not the "6pts in 2 yrs" thing as your new licence is no longer your first full license.

God help us.

I suggest: Go back to the 1980s, pass test, don't give a shit.

Worked for me.

Newbies, sheesh....
