Ha yeah, me Mum was a Londoner who married a Northerner, they met when me Dad was sent down to work as a clerk at the war office when he was doing his national service,
I was born in London, we moved up north when I was one year old.
I remember me Mum telling us that when she was a little girl Mosley and his black shirts used to go marching by their house, everyone was terrified of them because they were bullies, when they heard them coming up the road my gran would close the curtains lock the doors and they all went into the back room till they had marched by.
Her and her sister were evacuated to Norfolk during the Blitz, they went back home after the battle of Britain and she recalled the carnage of the bombings and being too close for comfort to a couple of exploding doodlebugs.
Imagine living in times like that eh?
Anyway if you are out and about and see a Cockney Reject shout 'Oi! Oi! Oi!' from me.  |
