Fettled bike number two.

DT 175mx. Another bike, like my VFR that I always regretted trading in and resolved to have an essentially brand new one again. 40 years later, goal achieved.
For any practical purpose I have a brand new DT175MX again. From engine internals to paint, this is an essentially a brand new bike.

That's a very neat job.

I suppose the only downside is it seems a shame to use it offroad... but then it would be a shame not to. Looks ideal for greenlanes and long distance trialling.

On road use ony and dry roads at that, it cost far too much money and effort to take it on the mud.
Classic bike appraiser who valued it for insurance purposes reckons its the best he has seen and with the provenanced very low mileage, unique.

If anyone is interested, I have a complete record of the devil bikes restoration that I can post. Bought "fully rebuilt and restored" so I was not going to get my hands dirty.
Restored by an ebay moron. It looked nice but was a deathtrap. There is very little left of the original restoration, everything had to be redone.

Got my fingers burnt with it. A very cautionary tale.

The whole long and sorry saga is simply a copy paste job from another site, so not particulary hard to set up.

Well you will not be disappointed. I post warts and all. 12 years as a senior motorcycle technician in a previous life and the devil bike nearly had me in tears on many occasions.

I wish I never set eyes on the thing, however she is running like a brand new bike now. She ought to. She pretty much is a brand new bike.
She did not allow me a single thing to go right.

I know people do not want to read the " I am master of the universe" type posts, where the feck ups and unforseen problems are glossed or never mentioned and the thread is all about the glory of the posters skill.

I also know that people learn more and are encouraged by reading about problems and solutions. That is why I overblow the feckups and gloss over the parts that go right.
