Getting a battery Lo on my dash at startup. Thought it was because I was beasting my shitty BMW SatNav over Euroland. Still getting it though - not every time. Not seeing any other issues and starting up sounds good. I do have an engine management light that came on recently - shortly after the message started appearing.

That sound like early signs of a battery where max charge capacity has degraded with age? Dont know how long it'd been on the bike before I got it.

Easy check with a battery tester I know and worth doing to ensure the stator/rectifier is boosting upto 13.5ish volts after startup. Will do it when I get a minute.

Many years ago i fitted a Easy to Read LED Digital Voltmeter with sticky back velcro connected to the battery. It cost pennies.

After being caught out by the reg/rec failures on the Honda I fitted a 12volt accessory thingy...a cigarette lighter thingy. Plugged a £6 voltmeter in for the longer journeys.

Now have a LED indicator fitted to the dash of the Duc. Green A-okay Orange - Get off motorway and you've got 20mins before the fuel pump gives out. Red - Ha-ha you're walking baldy.

Think that cost about a fiver.

There might be a date on it would give you an idea.
If all is working as it should at least five years can be expected one of my bikes is nine years old and on original, all seems well but I might change it soon rather than risk sudden total fail and no worky at all - as happened with the other one at similar age - but luckily only a mile from home.
