Hi All,

I've been recently desperately trying to find a vacant test date for an A2 Mod2 test, before my cataract eye op due this Friday (19/07/24).

I actually found one for yesterday (16/07/24). Hired a trailer, put the Rebel 500 on it, towed it from Bournemouth to Lee on the Solent.

Took the test, and passed! Considering the fact that everything that could go wrong in the preparation, did go wrong. Resulting in my actually being a bit late for my test, I was delighted when the examiner said "You've passed". Not without a handful of riding faults, but a pass is a pass.

I want to thank all those who have offered helpful advice on this forum, particularly "Fat Angry Scotsman".

So, if you see a black Rebel 500 being ridden extremely safely, it's probably me. Give us a wave.

Many thanks

Tony N

Congratulations nothing quite like the feeling of passing your test

Enjoy your Rebel, here's mine. Used to bikes with a lot more HP but love my Rebel. But one bike is never enough though. Smile

To "Freddy Fruitbat".

I'm 86, going on 87.

To "struan80".

Slight difference between your Rebel and mine. Mine has no pillion seat and no pillion pegs. I took them off because, even if I could get pillion insurance cover (which I can't), I wouldn't want to be on the back of a bike piloted by me.

I've also added a Puig screen to mine. My latest instructor took me up the spur road from Bournemouth (70mph dual carriageway). On the return he insisted I keep up, at 70mph. With no screen, and the wind threatening to rip off my helmet, I was never so pleased to see the 50 limit come up.

I have another bike, an AJS Cadwell. Ever so easy, even for an oldie like me, to throw around. I think it will have to go though, I like the Rebel too much. One's enough at my age.

Thanks to all for your kind, and encouraging, comments.

Right on, dude. I'll second the A100man. I'm chuffed for you, too!
I'd say "welcome to the wonderful world of motorcycling," but I think you have been here for, well, it seems like two years at least. Congratulations.

Hi Jeff,

loved that video. I can really relate to those guys. Just because one's 80 plus, and lost your loved one, doesn't mean you have to give up on life.

When you've done most "fun" things in your younger days, raced on 4 wheels and under sail, flown a glider and a power plane, what's left? I decided it was biking, and I'm loving it.

Thanks mate for the encouragement.

Skydiving, bungee jumping, and hang gliding come to mind, but motorcycling is still a thrill after 55 years of riding. Otherwise, I'd be on bungee-jumping chat forums debating knots, elasticity, organic v. synthetic bungees. Take care, friend. Rubber side down.

I should have added to my note, after "what's left", "Apart from totally stupid things like Skydiving and bungee jumping."
