Hello I just purchased this bike and I'm going through it. It looks okay / complete.
Can anyone tell me what this thing is? It looks like some sort of cable used to be hooked up to it.
It sits on top of the engine on the RH side.[/img]

That looks like a speedometer drive. Some older bikes had the speedometer driven off of the gearbox via a cable. If you want a working speedometer you may need a new part there, as that looks quite mangled to me.
