Zipping trousers to Jacket

Found a combination i like.... Merlin X Route One Mason Waterproof Kevlar Jeans & an Alpinestars T-Jaws V3 jacket....

but... incompatible zips.

I know it prevents them riding up if i come off, so i've been an ass. Short of buying new trousers (no thanks) & swapping zips (no thanks) I guess i'm screwed right?

Why can't they all get along & play nicely!

Is there a list of which zips on what clothing by what manufacturer go with whom, what & where.

btw Merlin X trousers do short zip with Frank Thomas but not Alpinestars

Yes it is a pain that there is no standard zip amongst motorcycle clothing manufacturers

What i have done in the past is to make an adapter, buy sewing the female part of the jacket zip, to the male part of the jeans zip, and simply leave the adaptor zipped to one or the other garment

It does help that i do have a sewing machine, but it's not difficult sew 2 zips togehter by hand, if a little time consuming

A while back I bought one of these:

It's an Oxford belt connector - you slide a regular belt through it, and it zips onto the back of a jacket. It's fiddly and you need a fairly narrow belt, though.

I had the same problem as you. In the end I managed to find a matching jacket on eBay.

There are a few that do connector belts (I have an RST one to attach my jeans to my jacket), but a quick google suggests Alpinestars don't do one (doh). That said, the connector belts generally come with both parts of the zip, so as above you can always either yourself or get someone to sew the non-belt zip into your jacket. I had to do this with my old IXS jacket.

It's the motorcycling equivalent of mobile 'phone charging cables. We need USB-C zips across the board.
