..anyone tried one?

Target is to carry A100 <100kg wet on teh towbar of a Sprinter Van.
This one has heavy duty rear springs according to the VIN decode so I'm guessing a nose weight of at least 150Kgs

Never used one but I always had qualms about the weight distribution
of the things with all the weight/forces being channeled into that narrow neck at the tow bar.
Probably ok for a bicycle, but as the weight increased I'd get jittery.
whatever dead weight it is what about the forces on it at speed when you hit a pothole?
I'd be happier with something like 2 chassis extensions for a platform.

Cooper racks attach to the flange as a rule and not the ball Eh?
and are touted to cope with 'up to 110kg or 120 kg some models..
but point taken

My other approach was to DIY - starting with one of the bolt on step things and build off that with an aluminium ramp (or parts thereof).

Hope Technical used to make a then call eth 'rac n roll' carrier which looks ideal only they stopped making them.

If you were putting shelf up would you put the supports
close to the centre or close to each end?
Those things look like they're made more for convenience than ruggedness.

I’ve used one, and it worked well. With your van’s heavy-duty springs, it should handle the bike’s weight fine. Just check the towbar rating to be sure.

I used to carry my RM125 circa 90-100 kilos wet on a dave cooper rack on the back of my Vauxhall combi van all over the shop in my racing days.

Never heard of nose weights or axle weight limits back then and it did it no problem at all.

I agree its a bit counter intuitive . There are though some additional holes on the end plates of my tow bar that could be used, along with some steel bar, to bear extra load if required

I haven’t personally used the Dave Cooper racks, but I think they could work well for your setup. When I carried my bike on a Sprinter, I found that having heavy-duty springs made a big difference in stability, especially with a load like the A100. Just keep an eye on the towbar rating and make sure the weight is distributed evenly. I also added a weight distribution hitch, which helped a ton with balance on the road.

Interesting.. Probably the best part of £1000 with shipment/duty etc.. though I guess.
